Groove building in action. After the differential equations talk in Part 1 (recommended to watch - some things will make more sense)- a somewhat intimate and nuanced groove is built by Massivebeatz using Roland's SP-404 Groove sampler, Roland's MC09 TB303 Clone with phrase lab and German engineered JOMOX's XBase09 Analog Drum Sequencer.
The percussion loop runs outta sync at 3:38 for a moment - and luckily the macbook's mic was disabled... no yelling on youtube LOL..;))
This should give electronic musicians, hip hop warriors etc. (after listening to part1 ) an idea on how to combine "boxes" to "hand craft" their sounds with multiple tools. This is an example only.

  • yes you could via a cable, but much quicker is taking the flash card to a mac or pc. it is recognized as external drive. no data loss. drag and drop. and you can go both ways - as far is i know. i go mac to sp drag and drop via 1GB flash card and can dump entire libraries from reason, logic etc.. i'll check if going back to computer needs a format conversion tool . i don't believe so, but i will answer here if it is...

  • The percussion loop doesn't go out of sync in my opinion, but if you say so...

  • ..lol.thx, but .yes..it is very slight..it starts to begin drifting....i make sure to catch it and retrigger..it's because the lenth/tempo wasn't exactly the same to the decimal point..well..it's like dj'ing ..i use it like that instead of programming patterns on mini buttons for hours...

  • Can this machine play a slower tempo? And does it have a sampler?

  • can you use an audio interface like an Mbox 2 pro to import SP sounds from the sample bank, do you use a midi cable, auxiliry cord, spdif, i checked on sp forum and manual no such luck.

  • yeah i use my mpc to be master of a bunch of other boxes too...

  • sp acts as slave - i use it stand alone mostly, but slaving it to other boxes really makes it valuable electronic music instrument = and you can incorporate into production and live setups with a lot of musical flexibility as well as sound diversity (every machine having its own color tone). i believe in several machines doing chunks here and there versus, one END solution like an MPC 4000. people rarely innovate with these 1 STOP shops. • so r u just using the 404 to sequence the other equip? just wondering... i haven't had much hands on with the 404 but i need somthen more portable than my mpc and don't like the 500 so i'm lookin at this bad boy (+ i love the fx)

  • it would be really cool if you can teach how making the song thing goes with the Emx 1 electribe -Blue- i know how to do the whole sound fun, but putting it together to make a long string of patterns!!! Ugh!!i need help!!!
