Data Center Solutions' Andy Rhodes talks about the impact PowerEdge C microservers can have on your data center.
Here's the data:
Based on SPECpower_ssj2008 testing done by the Dell SPA lab:
• 12 x Dell PowerEdge C5125 measured 811W at 100% utilization
• 1 x HP DL160 with 1 processor measured 107W at 100% utilization
Using a 48U rack, with a 13kWH rack limit, you can fit up to:
• 168 C5125 microservers
• 46 HP DL160 servers
Difference of 122 more C5125 microservers per 48U rack.
Since you can get 122 more servers with the C5125, a hosting company can earn an extra $133,956/month or $1,607,472/year by using their price offering on a similar configuration, $1098.
