dont you love the cry of a steel.

@putdownan8dude I had heard things about how the Possum had copied the paycheck style and there are similarities for sure . George always said he loved the style of Lefty Frizell which he used in developing his own unique style . I loved that album Jones and Paycheck did together ,and that song " when your'e ugly like us " they sang great together and the whole album for me is is one of the great collaborations in country music.

@pedalman Paycheck INVENTED this style. Youre right on about the rest!

one of the greatest ballad c/w singer ever. superb band behind him. Nashville sound. Is that Lloyd Green on steel?
-
Yet another Little Darlin' classic by Johnny - beautiful! Lloyd on that steel is the frosting on the cake. An', hey, what about that album cover! An'....HEARTBREAK, TN - now there's a song (written by Cowboy Jack Clement) that pretty much says it all in 2 verses an' a chorus!

Knew Paycheck & Willie in Fort Worth in the good ole days. Saw Johnny lose a fortune one night at the 4 Dueces night club on Jacksboro Hwy.. Probably wasn't over $100 then...ha
A great country singer , he sings this classic style as great as anyone ever could.....except Jones, Johnny was one of the greats and I never tire of hearing his music.
