The Kettlebell military press. The press is only good as your clean. Once the bell is cleaned, tighten your entire body, glutes, quads/hams, core and make a fist with opposite arm. Push yourself away from the kettlebell when pressing. Stay pressurized when pressing.

  • Everyone's press is going to have a different path. As long as you keep your elbow and wrist straight you are fine. Elbows should be directly under, one straight line with the wrist. Elbows should not flare out, this would cause power loss. It should be one smooth movement

  • You mentioned cleaning the KB before pressing. What do you recommend- soap and water or Windex?

  • @bighouse1185 get you a pair of sweat bands for your wrists. This will provide a bit of padding, for your forearms, until your wrists get sronger

  • Should your elbows flare when pressing? I've been looking at kettlebell pressing videos and it seems that there are two major approaches when doing this exercise. 1. elbows flare (RKC) 2. Elbows are tight (WKC-Fedorenko Style). Have you noticed this too? so which is the better technique?

  • kettlebell press is the daddy of shoulder exercises. Reg Park was the first named body builder to copy the form of the kettlebell press. Arnold scuzzanator copied the movement further. In fact the Scott Press is an attempt to mimic the Kettle bell Press(pinkies high)in a partial (3/5ths) motion. If you don't have a Kettlebell, do the scott press until you get your bell

  • mess. for @scast84 I just started working with kb's so i purchased a 35lbs. from Sports authority with i think is built wrong cuz every time i do a snatch my wrist is bent backward also the space between the bar and the kb is very lengthy.

however i can do the basic single and double swing. But when i do the clean and the snatch the kb bangs against my forearm and it hurt really bad. the 35lbs. is kind of heavy but i can manuever the kb...do you thats to much weight for a beginner

  • @scast84

Try to strengthen your wrists with different exercises. In the future this will prevent you from bending your wrist to much.

If I understand you correct, It's like the KB's er pummeling you when you clean it?

  • I've just started training with kbs, and every time I try the basic press, the kettlebell digs into my forearm like nothing else, and fricking hurts. I can't keep my wrist straight either, because the straighter it is, the more the kettlebell digs in. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
