My Dubstep Dn'B sound that I've created so far using a Moog MF-105b, a Moog MF-101, a Boss CE-3 chorus (on loan from a good friend) & a 80s PSK SDS-2 distortion pedal.

  • If you want to hear this board in action on a bit of Dubstep, then paste this into the search bar:

Code: Marla ft. The OBW Bassists // Nine Basses

  • add a fuzz in the set.

  • @archebeats :D

There's a few pedals that I want & a good fuzz is up there, though I'm getting a really good sound with what I have now. The OC-3 going into the PSK & then the Bass Murf has a sound almost like a tuned ring mod.

  • May I ask you, What parameters did you use to connect the cable plugs inserts? The order of effects? Just going to buy the Moog MF-101 and MF-105 for my bass pedalboard...

  • @xlseHplx The order I have my fx on this vid are - Distortion > MF-105b > MF-101 > Chorus.

The MF-101 is on 2pole with the cutoff just above 9 o'clock & the resonance @ 1/2 way & the amount at 0.

The MF-105b I mess about with all the time, but IIRC the drive is @ 1-2 o'clock & the 100 Hz filter is the only one fully opened (I like plenty of bass) & just a couple around the 525 mark @ 1/2 way open.

I've now got an OC-3 at the start of the chain & will get a video with that sometime soon :)

  • @Eukatheude This video was done right at the start of me getting into "Dubstep" & isn't really played in much of a dubstep style. However, I've recently collaborated on a dubstep track with a bunch of other bassists that all use a few different "filters", from the BEF to the beringher thingy & I'll get a link to it when it's finished. :)

I'd like a BEF, but I wouldn't get rid of my Moog for one.

The thing I've found for me to make better dubstep is a faster moving foot :P

  • @limeyamos I suppose it's a matter of taste then, in my opinion the source audio sounds better and it's more easily controlled. While the sound you get is very peculiar, i don't know how much would it "fit" on dubstep. Then again, it's your choice ofc

  • @Eukatheude while source audio's stuff is great, it certainly does not sound as analog and warm as the moog low pass filter to my ears

  • I suggest getting the source audio envelope filter with the hand controller, it's practically made for this stuff.

  • @xnonsuchx RIGHT ON!!!! THANK YOU

  • @bonzo32 - "Patch cords" connect sound sources to effect units/amplifiers. Likewise, modular synthesizers used "patch cords" to connect modules together in a certain manner to make a specific sound. Later non-modular synths assumed the most commonly used module to module connecting (e.g OSC-FILTER-ENV-AMP) and allowed saving settings, which were virtual patch cord configurations, thus "patches."
