Hi Steve, is there a way to add a stroke to outline the photo once it has the rounded corners. Another question, can you add a gradient layer over the photo and prior to adding the stroke (if adding that stroke can be done...I can do it in illustrator)
Thanks!

Hi, i saved it as a png and I still see the border when I open the file....what do I do?
-
I just did it once...but the second time i tried....after i added the very first layer...and drew my rectangle on the pic, in the icon, it shows Two icons....not just "layer one".!!!!
it shows the first icond with a small arrow at the bottem with a line running horzontal and then, like a chain looking symbol...& then the other icon with "shape 1" after it....
its not just showing "layer 1" anymore...and i didnt mess with any settings! :(
but i did it the first time..... :(
whats wrong?
Yes for a stroke your best bet to to make the image into a selection. This is how you do it:
1. Use the quick selection tool or layer panel to select the image
2. Then right click on the selected image to add a stroke of fill
Let me know if theres any issues

It was really helpful.
Is there a way to make the edges more round?

@cheesepluscake
Hey, in this tutorial i used a radius of 15, if you want to make it more round just increase the number, of course it depends in the size of the image itself. Let me know if there's any issues

When you add the layer mask and delete the background layer, the background becomes transparent. Then you save it as a png not a jpg or gif

Thanks nice work but does it have to be saved as png?

Because your working with a transparent images, the best formats are png's and gif's if its a low bit rate. J pegs leave a black background in photos that are transparent. I'll be doing a video on this very soon
