AV-8B Harrier Demonstration
VMA-211 "Wake Island Avengers"

2009 MCAS Miramar Airshow
MCAS Miramar
Miramar, California
Friday October 2, 2009

IN THIS VIDEO, this AV-8B Harrier is put through its paces in a demonstration over MCAS Miramar. You will get to see vertical landings and a vertical takeoff in this demonstration, as Runway 6L/24R is constructed primarily of concrete. The aircraft came from VMA-211, the Wake Island Avengers, who are based at MCAS Yuma, Arizona. The callsign of this aircraft was WAKE 11. Also, take note of the callsigns of the demo pilot and the callsign of the Harrier pilot on the announcer's stand with Rob Reider.

I apologize for any bad color and/or vertical lines or American flag intrusion that may or may not be in this video. Unfortunately there were American flags that got in the way of the video during some critical parts of the videos and I have had some camera trouble throughout the weekend.

If you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate "version" of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take the time to check out Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .

  • @aussieblackhawk123 Well the F-117s are extremely expensive to maintain, and they cant really carry a whole lot of munitions, so they just aren't worth keeping in service. Harriers aren't capable of supersonic flight, lack stealth and would (probably) get raped in a BVR fight with an F-35.

  • @jakem1900 more likely to be the higher power setting, the engines got cranked up alot higher to be able to push the harrier to a higher altitude and increase speed

  • @MasterHand125 that F35 are better?

  • @aussieblackhawk123 harriers can easily be modified to fulfil another role. Maybe provide close air support for infantry instead, they will probably do it better then the A10

  • @EEDDLL1234 lol im not sure if we'd make any good planes.. the only good thing we export is iron ore...

  • Harriers for the win! I personally wish we could keep these a while longer and not completely replace 'em with the Lightnin II. >.> Harriers are just...awesome...

  • @aussieblackhawk123 make your own damn airplanes ;) im sure aussies could do better

  • Mw2 :)

  • Harrier has always been my favorite jet...I remember seeing that bitch for the first time in True Lies...Epic.

  • Lt Col Nalls Right?
