@phoenixbarcs Look! If he couldn't perform a task as simple as giving the Shah financial and military support, he should have stayed on his peanut farm and read his bible. Now Iran's stuck with a clerical dictatorship, all thanks to that incompetent nincompoop! And thanks to him, you silly Americans are stuck being "allies" with Saudi Arabia, because their the current swing oil producer instead of a loyal , progressive secular Iran under the shahshahnate.

@lucychoov If we had listened a ltitle more to Carter we might be energy independent today. Instead he was dismissed as a loon for putting solar panels on the White House. Just think about a world where the U.S. depends on the Middle East for absolutely nothing. If we start now, perhaps in 20-30 years we can be energy independent. But how many wars are we going to have to fight during that time?

Jimmy Carter was one of the greatest Presidents we ever took for granted. This man was (and still remains) 100% behind the American people and he's continued it by swinging a hammer with habitat for humanity as well as his outspoken mantra of caring for our fellow Americans. The political system could NEVER let a man of his character truly lead our Nation. Everything he said about Bush is true and he said it with class.
