The last populations of genetically pure marble trout, Salmo marmoratus,in Slovenia, survive in a few tributaries draining the Soča valley. This movie is about marble trout spawning
behaviour. It was recorded in the rivers Soča, Ujča, Tolminka and Zadlascica by Pep Gener, Nacho Peña, Manu Esteve, John Zablocki and Robert Svetičič with the assistance of Dušan Jesenšek.

I miss Slovenia!!
cheers
Manu

  • @Moldovawineimporter - all you need to do to fish is buy a fishing license from the club that has the concession for the river section/s you want to fish. All the stuff about paying off officials and not being able to fish without a guide is bunk.

  • @jedthespread Thank you .

I will get back on the research for my trip to Slovenia to fish this winter for Danube salmon in Slovenia.

I have a 2005 Chevrolet Cew cab 4 door 4x4, 6.6 liter diesel truck with fully self contained camper I will drive to Slovenia from Moldova.

I am a tour guide and Professional American fishing guide so I am very interested in Slovenia fishing.

    My guide service web site is w w w .oregonalaskanguide. c o m

Most people speak very good english, especially those under 30 years old. I think your guide is full of crap too...

I have a website called campervanculture . com and I am adding a series of videos from our trip round europe in our campervan. I just did part three but in the next part will be the part with Slovenia in if you want to check it out....

  • @jedthespread Can you also tell me how many people speak English their too ?

  • @jedthespread Thank you for this information !!!

I will research this then see if I want to go there.

What about fishing for those Danube salmon they call Hunchen ?

I don't care to stand in water whipping a hairy fly back and forth so I am more interested in the fish they call Hunchen .

That Mafia guide Jure told me I could only fish these fish Hunchen salmon with a mafia guide .

Also is the Soca a fly fishing only river ?

I half way feel this mafia guide Jure is a liar to benefit him self .

I ended up visiting Slovenia as part of a European road trip and returned this week. There are lots of campsites on the soca river and they are very good. They can be found on the Autocamp website in the Slovenia Section and no need to pay anyone off........ loads of massive fish too

  • @jedthespread Say I am investigating my self to go fish here but I am getting some really bad news !

I contacted a Slovenia guide named Jure Visnar which told me I can not camp any place or fish the Rivers unless I hire one of his mafia fishing club member to go fishing.

Jure also told me him and his fishing club are paying off Government officials to pass laws to keep foreign fishermen off these rivers unless they pay a mafia guide to take them fishing.

    Jure is a w w w .slo-guide. c o m

  • Great video,

I was looking at visiting this area in my VW 4x4 campervan this summer. Are there many places to camp in the area?

    Thanks for any help

  • Soy un fanático de los creditos de este video. John Zablocki es mi parte preferida. Viva el Soca.

  • crazy soca, it´s almost unreal beautiful!!
