Here's a mix I conjured up for Youtube containing
Niton by Eric Prydz and God Only Knows by The Beach Boys.
The vocals of the original obviously didn't fit the tones of the tune so,
i changed them, each pheonome at a time, instead of using Autotune.

It seems Youtube's copyright policy on mixes and mashups,
is that if you use other peoples material, then
it's best to chop them up into small bits for short amounts of time,
then it's considered fair use.
I say, that first off, i think that fair use explained in terms of using small amounts of content is just as much stealing as using entire songs and videos, even more so actually, because these small clips are usually to the detriment of the original content.
I think the fair use policy should be reconsidered on Youtube. DJ's and VJ's who create with uncleared samples and videos should be able to have a platform where they could ask for permissions easily, so things could move a little faster in the clearing of material, Avalanches Album. Need i say more?
Youtube could offer a service where by users were helped to find the correct permissions from the right people.
I would pay for a service like that. Not loads, but a fair price is achievable i think, as both sides could benefit, DJ's and VJ's would be able to have their work released legally, unlike the famous "Grey Album" by Dangermouse, and Original Artists would be making extra money from their material. I'm pretty sure everyone would want that. It would work similarly to the partnership scheme.

Tell you what Youtube, you can use that, and put it into place and Dj's and Vj's all over the world will flock to youtube,

My work here is non-profit and here just for show and only really goes to serve the purpose of reaching a wider audience for the original artists.

I know people will say, that you can do it yourself, but if you've ever tried, you know how hard it can be to get permissions for other peoples work. If Google could bung a bit of money at this copyright problem, then i believe it would be a really good thing for the DJ and VJ community on youtube.

Peace:)
