@555harv thanks for the polite reply. I do believe in a compact swing (I love Nick Faldo's swing), with as few moving parts as possible (which seems to be working for Kuchar, as you say). I don't believe in taking stack and tilt as read. Too much of a flat backswing and reverse type pivot for my liking.
Hi Retro, In the June 2011 issue of Golf Digest, Matt Kuchar describes his transition from the "athleticism" of your description, to a more controlled swing that allows for better consistency. And, Matt has become the most consistent player on tour. SandT is not an end all and be all for everything that ails you! It is an approach to obtaining consistency and reliability by focusing on the fundamental of the golf swing: hitting the ground in front of the ball. That is all. Nothing more.
@555harv as you admit, it is a pivot around two points. Not one. So there is weight transfer, so my example is fine. If S and T is so good, please give me examples of prolific winners using this method - and their world ranking. BTW, this guy, Aaron Baddeley has ditched the S and T method.
@RetroJohnny1 The problem with your comment is that you are not throwing a ball, you are swinging the club around your spine. It is not a throw. It is a rotation around a pivot point. the traditional swing uses two pivot points, with requires a fantastic amount of coordination, possessed by only a small percentage of the population. SandT focus on one pivot, the left leg. It is quite simple. pivot mainly on the left hip fulcrom. SandT is best for beginners.
This stack and tilt stuff is utter tosh. Think about it. How do you throw a ball a long way? Do you pull back and then forwards, releasing your hand and arm. Or do you keep all your weight on the left side (right handed) and then throw it? I bet you can't throw it nearly as far using stack and tilt. It's just a fad.
Thanks to finding this I have changed my game from a short player to a sneaky long player..Driver was at about 280 to 290...Now 310-350 depending on conditions...I been playing for 12 yrs, strangely it was my friend that just started golf about 3 months ago was the one who turned me onto the dvds....
I tried stack and tilt, and hit the ball shorter. I don't have a lot of distance to give up anyway,,,so losing more is terrible for me. See my 2 plane swing.. under " 2 plane swing cp"
there's room for modified stack and tilt in modern golf, but until anyone of any significance employs it and wins with it, it will conitnue to get criticism. baddelly and wier dropped it btw
