Ironically, I was just pulled over last Wednesday for a 41 in a 30. First thing the cop looked at was my windshield, but I was lucky enough to get a away with a warning.
@deviousconkerer Yes, it is required equipment in the states. I'm actually surprised you haven't been stopped for the other things you listed. They are all things the police would look for especially at night and on DUI patrols.
I have one out of two license plate lights out, a vertical crack (doesn't impair my visibility at all), and no front license plate because of a hit and run, and I haven't ever been pulled over because of them. The last time I was pulled over was July '09 because I took off my muffler. My question is, can I get pulled over for the license plate light?

In Ubkobalt's situation above
No sir, just snorting crank off of the back of my hand...
"I'm sorry, I forgot to turn on my car and do a walk around and check all my lights and fluid levels and tire pressure before I went out."
Or my favorite
Your always telling me whats wrong but you all never offer to fix a damn thing!

I too have often been stopped with "Your license plate light is out, have you been drinking tonight?"
I haven't thought of a witty answer to that question yet.
(The light works fine)
