Athletes -Using Social Media to Find a Job http://www.athletegameplan.com - According to a Techcrunch article I read the other day, 1 in 6 people found their current job via social media. These numbers came from a study that was taken from over 22 million people. We are not talking about a sample size of 1,000 people your little cousin did for a high school project. We are talking about a substantial sample size that you can extract useful data and represents a true trend.
I do however need more clarification on how Techcrunch came to their percentages when they reference the social media platforms in which the subjects found their job. According to the surveys statistical data, they have LinkedIn as the third source for how people found their job.
Let's assume this study probably took at least a year since the data size is over 22 million. With that said, LinkedIn has experienced huge growth in a years times. According to the article, Techcrunch cited the study was done by Jobvite. The order represented in this article was Facebook and Twitter number 1 and 2, with LinkedIn coming in 3rd. As a LinkedIn expert, I question these metrics. Especially when you total the percetages referenced in the article total more than 100%. But hey whose counting...
Undoubtedly you must have a social media presence if you want to differentiate yourself. It does carry weight if you have a following, because it shows you have influence. Companies like influence and platforms. You'd be smart to leverage yours! http://www.AthleteGamePlan.com
