Laurentiu Calciu is one of the few makers of "observational documentary" in Romania and this is his showreel. Here you can see samples from his main films, one of which ("The Land is Waiting" or "Mamaliga te Asteapta") won lots of awards. Laurentiu is from Bucharest, he studied documentary at the National Film and Television School (NFTS) in UK and he has worked in Greece, UK, Serbia and Russia. His style of "observational" documentary is very different from what we normally see, as he has the patience to stay with people long enough to portray their characters in a sympathetic and interesting way -- without irony or sensationalism.
