The guide's wrong about the function of the hyena's "laugh." It's a sound of frustration and anxiety; low status hyenas laugh at kills when they've been excluded from eating by high status ones. The video at watch?v=mpXFL5Kw_u0, which is an animal keeper at the "Out of Africa" refuge in Arizona giving a talk while feeding them, has a good explanation and demonstration of this along with other aspects of hyena behavior and communication starting at 5:00.

I love wild dogs and hyenas!!! Hyenas are really dirty bitches and they deserve being mobbed and persecuted by dogs who are smaller but faster and extremely organized in chasing

@Buu360 just a wounded Hyena that was persistent to bother the dogs the rest of the day, multiple fights over the next 2 hours.
