The Chinese regime said Tuesday it is looking into Seychelles as a resupply port for Chinese military vessels participating in anti-piracy surveillance in the Indian Ocean.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Liu Weimin said the Seychelles' offer is not for a military base.

The Chinese regime's growing military power and recent forceful territorial claims in the South China Sea have triggered regional concerns. It has encouraged several Asia Pacific countries to revive their relations with the US military.

A resupply port in the Seychelles would still pose a concern for India, which has been cautious of the Chinese regime's rising military influence.
