through the night.
You gotta' be somebody you don't want to be
to rendezvous with thoughts that are so far out of your sight
that you go out of your mind.
When I was young my daddy sat me down,
he said "Son I hope you know what you love wont last
and in the end that it'll tear you down."
There were so many flaws in the cards we were dealt.
He said to me : "A woman's got a cold taste of heaven
and a heart full of hell.

Then he said "Son..
If you love someone just let em' go."

On the 4th of July my baby stole my car.
She didn't get far, but she got it up to 80
on Camp Creek in the dark.
Still to this day we don't know what she was on.
She swore to me sobriety had taken her over
but sanity had left a scar.
You may have proved to me that Daddy was right,
but baby girl you got me on my knees so sweet
and a leash that's so damn tight.
When I got home I couldn't fall asleep,
my daddy's voice inside my head kept saying:
"Son you should have listened to me, when I said "Boy...If you love someone just let em' go."

Now even though I'm standing over daddy's grave.
I'll never take back what I did,what I said,
and definitely not what I say.
'Cause daddy was wrong about one of those things
he had to tell.
