I took the day off yesterday to attend a trade show for the sewing and embroidery industry. Bead embellishment, and hot fix crystals are a hot new trend in computerized embroidery, so I ended up picking up a few things that have absolutely nothing to do with my day job. Crazy busy day. I had a great time.

  • The best haul video ever, because it was BEADS!!! Possibly unique among the hundreds of YouTube haul videos--clothes, bo-ring, makeup, bo-ring, cosmetics, BO-ring!!!! But BEAD HAUL--let's watch it again. I love your crystal clear tutorial videos and your sparkly happy narration, and now that you have pioneered bead haul videos, please put up a bead stash video--too tantalizing to hear you are swimming in beads and we're all dying to see a stash that only lacked three colours! Please!

  • @bupkes

LOL! Now for that, I'd really need a video camera. Working on getting one, though.

  • What thread do you use for the embroidery? I've done floss embroidery and lots of bead work but never the two crafts combined but I think I'd LOVE it! Beads rock my world!

  • Gawd, I wish they allowed pictures. Gorgeous stuff.

I work in the computerized embroidery field, and have for the last 20 years, so the thread I use is either 40 weight polyester or rayon on big ol cones. We use big, multi head embroidery machines that crank out hundreds of pieces a day. I can't tell you how much embroidery floss I went through as a girl. I sold hand embroidered denim jackets in high school, and crewel embroidery was a long time passion of mine. :)

  • Nice! Pinks and purples have always been hard for me to find in shades I like. The show sounds like fun (altho I hate crowds)!

  • Oh, it was a whole bunch of fun, but because it was a show open to the public, super crazy, too.

  • Google Peranakan beadwork in Images, and you will see the traditional bead embroidery of an ethnic group around Singapore. Mega-gorgeous!
