  • Heron wasn't even listed as one of the celebrities that died in 2011, such a shame. RIP a great artist.

  • @GuruEdward This is the original song!

  • @caritoboy718 I know....what a shame though he DID get a mention earlier in the show. I was so glad to see that. A great loss to the world, and not just the music world...

  • @Zombierenji Couldn't say it any better. Respect.

  • This guy's voice isn't scratchy. What people hear what they call "scratchy"..... that's SOUL!!!

  • @nicolexxlove332 Music is not always pretty. That is why there was such things as the blues and jazz which formed every part of modern music today. You are right you don't need to be educated to listen to something ,but try at least to listen to lyrics and take in the emotion carried in every note. Something that neither Rihanna or Drake is able of doing (no offence to those artist). Just Heron basically showed his soul through his music and was really the poet of the black underdog

  • @rileywebb9 why do i need to be educated on someone to like their music? see thats where i think the flaw in your reasoning is. i dont want to have to know everything about a singers background, who exactly they are, the dictionary definition of what "soul" is, or be an expert of music to like a song. i just want to listen to it, theres no need to get technical. i dont need all that crap to be honest. and in my opinion, just purely listening to this song makes me want to turn it off.

  • @caritoboy718 Absolutely. I agree with you

  • @84vanny They just sampled Jamie xx's remix of the track

  • @nicolexxlove332 You clearly have no notion as to what soul is, or who Gil Scott-Heron is, or what he has been through. Perhaps you should investigate both the former and latter and come back to the video with more educated ears, and then judge it.

  • @jolll00 Not even close. This was recorded by Bobby Blue Bland in 1959
