Seriously, what is it with the Indonesian Fender / Squier factory? This here Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Bass Special retails for only $200, but it's got desirable features like a two-band active EQ and P / J bass pickups, and a build-quality and playability that are more than gig-worthy. This is the kind of bass you buy as a backup, but end up making your primary instrument.

Owen played the Vintage Modified Jaguar Bass Special direct into a radial JDI and Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 interface, and also mic'd through an Ampeg B200 combo. He may have reservations about its lack of a passive bypass option, be he's got no reservations about the VM Jaguar Bass's slap-tone.

  • Thos indonesian necks by squier have gotten better, but they are formed in a humid climate..and they tend to bow., they probably need a roadworn process, so it is hit or miss with them, now if you want and interesting neck try the chinese made squier necks, I see they are putting them on the Fender Brand.... Also I put on my squier jazz vintage jazz modified 70s a squier active v (ebanol neck) ther replacement neck for it wasn't as good..

I'm thinking on getting a mexican 70s neck for it...

  • Enlighten me, does the 2 knobs are Bass and Treble, but it stated on the website that its a boost and tone.

  • @sebthegerbil Gigantic by Pixies, cheers.

  • This video inspired me to get one of these basses. I liked it so much that I traded in a well loved Fender P Bass standard to get it. This bass plays and sounds fantastic! It is the gem of Squier's product line.

My Modulus Q5 and Burns Bison bass will be collecting some dust for a while as this axe is gig worthy.

Stock strings are good. Setup is medium and good. Tuners stay in tune pretty well. Nut is nice.

Frets are not rolled, but not a deal breaker. Battery compartment is easy to us

  • @ltdbassplayer And there ya go ! the mods you are doing will make this bass a killer tone machine, Go Dimarzios . Hard to pinpoint issues with the p/us when your hearing an mp3 or similar crunch audio online. Ck it out in person then you'll have your answers.

  • @nexusvision can you provide a little more of your experience on the necks and humidity ? Do ya live in a generally rainy area ? I've got several Squiers and demo'd quite a few before buying I notice the necks are hit or miss. but the ones I have tend to need truss adjustment every now and then ( bowing) and I'm in a dry climate .

  • This guy looks a bit like Seth Rogen

  • How long does the battery last?

  • Scumbag blues!

  • how does this bass compare to the older squier jag? the one with the duncan pickups.
