TomTom - Nokia 6680 vs N95 vs N95

Previsouly I uploaded a video running TomTom on a Nokia 6680 side-by-side with TomTom running on a Nokia N95.

The conclusion was that TomTom on the N95 was awful.

Last night I discovered that if I remove all the POIs from the N95 map the performance increases. Here is a video showing yesterday's video running alongside a POI-free N95 TomTom (on the right).

So for all of you who do not rely on speed camera warnings (blast!), here's the short-term answer.

I'm sure TomTom will release a new version soon that has better performance on the N95 (bear in mind that the N95 is not yet on TomTom's compatibilty list) and also accommodates the built-in GPS receiver.

N95 is a better phone than the 6680 in every respect except TomTom performance and robustness (in my opinion).

Дурачки американские, или какие вы там ещё? На 6680 идёт лучше всего по причине аналогичного процессора как и на n95, но экран поменьше и разрешение меньше, следовательно для обработки изображения на экране требуется меньше ресурсов.

I agree that the poor performance of this version of TomTom on the N95 is partly due to the screen resolution being much higher than the 6680. However, if you look at some of the 3D games for the N95 I'm sure you'll agree that it is more than capable of running TomTom smoothly once the code is tailored for its hardware.

I hope that V7 (Navcore) is available for Symbian soon!

I have a Nokia 6630, tomtom installed and it runs very well... My girlfriend have a Nokia N80, also with tomtom and it's also fast as the nokia 6680 in the image. I think the problem is where the program is installes, and if the card is fast or not. My tomtom only becomes slower if i install extra POI.

And by the way, to Nokia 6680 is tomtom v.5. To Nokia N80,N95 is tomtom V.6... wich make me think this is a stupid comparsion. They aren't comparing the same software, only the map...

I have also owned a 66380 and an N80 and have run TomTom on both. The 6630 gives the same performance as the 6680 which is what would be expected as the phones have the same guts.

I don't agree with you assesment of the N80's performance. I found it to be about the same as the N95
