When I spin the tire clockwise, I spin counterclockwise, and vice versa. This is because angular momentum has to be conserved in the system of me, the chair and the bike tire. To keep it conserved when the bike tire suddenly spins horizontally, I also have to spin, but in the opposite direction. This causes our vectors to cancel the change, so to speak.

I also need a haircut here.
It's a lot harder to move the tire than it looks!
