One thing I will say is that there is a need of a humanistic perspective, but that is suppose to be what cognitive neuroscience/psychology are supposed to be about. Even with the complete lack of knowledge of where every atom in the universe came from, what it does, and how it interacts with others, you can accept what you do know. I fully accept part of what he's trying to say, but the possibillionism is just silly. It's pretty much how religions are made.
I love hearing him talk, but he's full of crap. There is a strict dichotomy...the only way out is to say you don't know, but I am starting to believe agnosticism is just fear. I don't know however that just because you don't believe in a deity means you need to be labeled. Labeling has a tendency to group and atheism is a lack of belief.
I can use telepathy, it works all the time and 100% correct on the distance of few kilometer. I think it would be very important to find out what kind of waves transmit telepathy.
@nanaszasi I'm not David Eagleman, but I think a good start is to start only populating prison for violent/sexual offenses, instead of drug charges and other non-violent crimes. There are also several wonderful talks on TED by David Eaglemen and others about the creativity of learning and how we need to redefine our education system. I agree. I think some sort of system that allows for specialized learning, while also focusing on math and sciences would help ... a whole lot.
david eagleman, do you not think this same sort of just & humane way of treating prisoners should be implemented w/ everything we do, not just criminal neuroscience, but w/ all neuroscience, esp w/ EDUCATION, and reforming the way we learn, it's another way ofk eeping prisons less populated... something we (you :) could be covering in your work. Love your work!!! good stuff, man.
Absolutely amazing! I love how David’s enthusiasm about how the brain works is so contagious. I’ll be sharing his work in my courses on the brain and learning!
Amazing interview. However, it seems that the interviewer was extremely envy of David's eloquence. Or it just because he speaks like a Englishman drinking tea ?
