  • i haven't tried to reset the O/D light with the switch when the truck is not moving there is no light O/D once start moving around like driving it two or three blocks then the light start blinking so i'll try to reset it with the switch see what happens tanks for reply

  • @theASEtech i think you should be fine driving it. i dont see why not its got to be just the light its self, not a problem. try to just reset the light first. also i think you might need a scanner. not exactly sure. does the light change at all when you turn O/D on or off?

  • i saw this video and see some questions about Fords i have a Ford F150 and 2005 i wish some body can tell me how to stop the O/D light from flashing i already repair the transmission but the O/D light don't stop from flashing can i drive it like that or i have to reset the light ? can i reset it without a scanner? thanks for your help

  • my rav4 has the O/D OFF button, what happens is that it wont go beyond third gear. So is it necessary or better if you drive with the O/D off in the city were the speed wont exceed 60-70km/h?

  • @bigbone38

Overdrive is not meant to gain you more speed but to lower your engine rpm to save fuel. As far as top speed some 4 cylinder vehicles with overdrive will actually go faster when it is disengaged. In your average V6 or V8 grocery getter top speed is pretty much the same with it on or off. With some of the muscle cars and all their horsepower you will gain top speed in overdrive.
