Cork - Burst Water Main 28th March 2011

At 2.30am on 28th March 2011 the water main at the bottom of Old Youghal Road burst, rupturing the road, leaving a 4 foot deep crater and 20 yards of broken road, and flooding Richmond Hill, Shandon Court and Shandon View Cottages down the Fever Hospital Steps. 30 people had to evacuated out of 14 homes.

@MsSla12345 It seems that a valve further up the road was stuck, so they had to dig the road 100 further up the hill to cut the supply

Well I hope balfour beatty didn't re- tarmac the road otherwise you would of been waiting a long time. I live here in the north. " Hello Northumbrian water how can we help you" Yes there's a burst water main outside my street and it is rapidly flooding the drains and it's starting to go near houses. I'll class it as urgent for you sir and someone will be out in the next 48 hours. I made that up but thats what they would do. But I actually do have a leaking water main outside my house. lol.
