@Bilbo107, I would suggest only one thing different, mount the readout on the right side of the slide instead of the left side because of the swarf, I will do that on mine in the near future.

WD40 doe sthe job if needed and does not seem to hurt the readout, still have to make a air cooling system and want to move the readout to the other side of the carriage, but hey it's cheap and easy top replace if it fails after a few years.

@benabousa Definately not coolant proof, in fact any moisture it will pack up. Wrecked loads of Mitutoyo with a splash of coolant, now gone IP67.
All three scales went on small mill after a few months use, approx £230 plus 2 axis readout £150. Another £60 could have had real thing! False economy.
By the way i did have some brand new verniers 6 and 8" cost £1.50 each.

@jhareng - I made a cover from plexiglass a few months later to prevent any coolant getting in.
