hi all sorrry got that wrong the great jonathan reginald surdeval Routh who invented candid camera was born in gosport hampshire in nov. 24th 1927 the son of british army colonel and spent most of his childhood in palastine , he also wrote many or published humourous books and painted for many years I think his first wife died , not sure was married to sheila 2nd wife for 23 years , he had two sons , amazingly he died in Jamica , god knows how he got there on 4th of june 2008 rip.

@castlebar67 I got to know his colleague Arthur Atkins who worked on Candid Camera (thanks to my youtube page). He told me how the pranksters went around the country filming pranks. He worked well with Routh on a professional level but they were never good mates!

PS. he starred in candid camera from 1960-1967 but it surprised me he also done programmes with the late as well Kenny everett in 1968 whom I thought was not around away back then pb manchester.

aah well need we say no more as the comments say wasnt he brill and the victim as well so nice now jonathen passed away a good few years ago now he emigrated to canada after a very successful career with the beeb etc.I liked his methods at least he invented you ben framed candid etc rip johnathen bless
