I know that the twee-pop style isn't everyone's cup of tea, but give Jenny a chance. She made a very conscious decision as her career progressed to confront her sadness and to sing more openly and honestly about her vices and her hang-ups.

There's a clear shift from the resigned cynicism of youth (The Frug) to the more constructive and necessary use of music as a tool to confront our demons as we age (Acid Tongue). Both are valuable, because they speak to us at different stages in our life.

First let me say, I can totally see how her voice might be annoying to you. Remember it's the 90s.

Twee-pop often uses overt sweetness or cuteness or frivolousness to mask very deep melancholy. I think that's what Jenny's doing here.

To me, this is a stylistic choice meant to aid in the juxtaposition of these mundane activities with the very real and painful "I cannot fall in love, you'll never see my eyes..." It's feigned sweetness masking some serious cynicism. This is a heartbreaking song.

Just about everything. The song is inane, and she is just annoying with her put-on babyish voice. I just don't like female vocalists when they get whispery, or try to sound cutesy. But most people like this song, so who am I to say?
