My grandmother, Helen Jeffreys Bakhtiar, was an American nurse who married an Iranian physician in 1931 in New York City. Together they went back to Iran and built one of the first private hospitals. Later, Helen was part of President Truman's Point IV mission to Iran. For years, she helped the villagers in the Chahar Mahal Bakhtiari region of Iran with their healthcare needs. My family recently found out that the legendary Bakhtiari tribe has named a mountain after Helen. See her story through the eyes of her granddaughter Iran Davar Ardalan.
That is very interesting. My ansestors are from the Chahar Mahal Bakhtiari. Haft lang line. I can;t wait to talk to my dad about this. I grew up in Masjed Soleyman. My mother was the maitron (head Nurse) of the Hospital there and my Dad was the head of the Health Department. I am sure they have crossed paths with your grandmother.
I am greatfull for your grandmother's work amongst my people (which from what I saw she would have concidered her people).

This video is interesting. Are you Abolghasem Baktiar's grand-daughter? About the Helen mount, is it in Chaharmahal&Bakhtiari Provice? Do you know about its location? In which district is it? By the way I'm from Borujen, the same town that your grandfather was born.
