street musicians of Athens - Otis & Philo

Otis & Philo are street mucisians . They're both immigrants from Congo, living in Athens.
They run a band named Molimo. I met them playing live a rainy Saturday and asked them if i could "film" them. Here's one of the takes i did. They asked me to make a copy for them so I promised to do so asap. Hope you like it.

I came across these guys a few years ago, and was compelled to buy their cd once I heard just a few seconds of them playing. Traveling all over Europe, they were my favorite street musicians...

The most wonderous things await on the streets of a major city, if you are looking for them. These are two very talented gentlemen who deserve a bit of attention. The best thing I can say about the internet is that it can open windows onto a wider world than some of us imagined, and bring marvels from that wider world into our homes. It is a very enriching experience, for individuals and, hopefully, for cultures.

big cities seem like dead cells unless you take a better look at their streets/veins and notice induvidual people living the way they chose. as for the internet can't but agree with you my friend

I also play the bongos and anyway i also brought the cd in Athens from the sweet and witness them playing and then brought the cd and its all brillaint but my favourite is Track 6 Banduelo that song is BLOODY beyong bloody BRILLIANT!!! its a recommeded buy!!! my only regret is that i didnt get their autograph on said CD!!!! maybe next time!!!!

i saw them too!!! they were AMAZING! i just stood there looking off into the distance for a good while enjoying the scenery.... one of my favorite experiences of athens just saw them this summer in june. 2011

Came across Otis and Philo on our honeymoon in Athens in June 2009 - beautiful sounds and a wonderful energy from the two. We too bought the CD immediately and I was recently pleasantly surprised to find the CD's data already in iTunes when I imported it.

I came across Otis & Philo, the band Molimo, at this same spot in Athens just three weeks ago. I was take pics of the Roman forum and their music came wafting from behind me. It was utterly enchanting. I am so happy that I bought on the spot their CD, Molimo Live.
