Nine Inch Nails
Lollapalooza 2008

Song: "Hurt"

A short speech from Trent Reznor on battling with his voice, showing his appreciation for the fans, and appreciation for the current band lineup, before launching into "Hurt". He held up well considering he had to cancel a show two nights before because of doctor's orders. You can hear the bleed over sound from a DJ set behind us and Kayne West's set at the other end of Grant Park. It doesn't interrupt Trent's speech but it does interfere with the song but who _hasn't_ heard "Hurt" a million times over by now?

"[I'd like to] say a few things. One (clears throat) i'm having a hell of a time with my voice and I apologize but i'm trying. Secondly (clears throat) believe it or not, 17 years...17 summers ago...we got a call from Perry Farell to be a part of the first Lollapalooza. We were...uh...just kids from Cleveland who had no idea what we were doing. It was a great...and flattering opportunity to be invited to play with some cool bands. And it completely blows my mind that a.) I'm still alive...17 years later. Secondly I'm on this stage in front of a full house, full of appreciative people and that means the world to me. And I thank you so very much. And I'm playing with good friends and the best musicians in the world. And I thank you guys. (turns to thank band) And I thank you guys (turns to thank audience). Going to play a song I wrote in a very dark...period of time. I wrote it for myself...and then I gave it to a friend."

  • I absolutely HATE it whenever I go to a concert, and every dipshit in the fucking house feels as if he/she has to goddamn sing along outloud to the song. I pay to hear the goddamn artist sing the shit, not you fucking twits . , .

  • I wonder how Trent can keep up that buffed up body of his when hes on tour , I doubt he have the time to exercice between shows.... anyway its fucking impressive.....to keep up a body like that in his age are really impressive....

  • Wrote for myself, gave to a friend. RIP Johnny Cash

  • @DeliveryManBoy Fuck off. Nobody wants to watch your bloody videos, if they did you'd have a million views already. So stop spamming with your shite, would you kindly.

  • I wonder how many people at this show were like "Hey he covered cash"....

  • I was there for this. I remember getting goosebumps when he talked about giving this song to a friend (Johnny Cash). Seeing them live made me understand why so many people absolutely love them. They killed it that night.

  • @hampe123 do you want the truth? medium range doses of testosterone(maybe some stanozolol for a couple of weeks and then off) training in hotel gyms and drinking protein shakes to substittute a non-healthy diet.quiet simple, and nothing too dangerous if you have a good doctor.Remember a tour of bon jovi in the 80´s,they were on testosterone and some nandrolone, also to combat fatigue(I´M NOT RECOMENDING TO DO THIS)

  • @billbenblue

Talking people are even worse. If you don't wanna listen, just go to a bar. We need roadies armed with shotguns to silence annoying audience.

  • @billbenblue

*sigh*, some people can't help but to sing along when they hear something they relate to on a deep level, imo i love it when the crowd sings along in harmony.

  • If you turn this up really loud, you can hear Don't Stop Believing in the background 0: 27 & 0:38
