Tom Crean was an extraordinary human being.

And none of it would have happened had Shackleton listened to the whalers who told him the ice was really bad that year. Shackleton ignored them and he and his crew were very very lucky to survive.

Check out the book 'The Third man Factor' by John Geiger; deals with the phenomenon and many different examples of it and how it is interpreted by those who experience it.

@ANDPRY Actually, they were probably just delusional. After all, walking for so long would make me see shit.

I have never and i mean NEVER heard of such a story of survival and courage! Amazing!

I was waiting for an acknowledgment of God's grace and here it is finally.
The fourth man was the same fourth man as with Shadrack Mesach and Abednego... there are many testimonies of such guidance- a recent one is on Youtube- Royal marines lost and on the verge of death and a "4th man" leads them...

This is so wonderful! :')
Sad they were then overlooked. I am glad they have gotten their due recognition finally. It is tragic they were treated so since many of them served in the war, some giving their lives. I thought Shackleton also served on a ship. I will have to review my own documentary on the Shackleton movie. That is one of my all-time favorite films and it's only half the story...people would not have believed it had it been told to this extent. It's truly miraculous that they all were rescued.
