I heard that because we're wanting gas from corn so much, we're producing less soy beans, so Brazil has to make more soy bean farms, which means they have to chop down more of the rainforest, which means there are less trees to suck up the carbon dioxide. Is that counter-intuitive or what?
. . . the forecast annual U.S. production of 11 billion gallons of ethanol translates into about 262 million barrels of that type of fuel produced over the course of a year. What appears at first to be an impressive number in terms of energy supply is actually relatively small ...nation's daily liquid fuel consumption of about 21 million barrels of oil per day.
I think it's a good idea for e85, for a supplement to reduce dependancey. However I have also heard that it takes more energy, from the farm equipment, and processing to make the e85. I also know that the local e85 .. (if you can call it local, I mean the one about 100 miles from here) is already more expensive than regular gas. The demand is higher, thus the price.
@pfuntner it doesn't cost most and there are ways to alleviate the MPG difference, better spark plugs, K&N air filter etc.

E85 is a good start but its only part of the answer. Hydrogen power and Bio Diesel are other options. Nice vid.

I have been running E85 in my F-150 Pickup and E85 runs great. More people should try running the ethanol.

And if we decided to power all of our automobiles with ethanol, we would need to cover 97 percent of our land with corn.

so it cost more per gallon and gets 40% less miles per gallon what a waste of money

I tried to find the thread and had no luck.

Is E85 really the solution?
