  • @sds4kst8 i have a canon 1000d with battery grip and wanted to get the canon 70-200mm f4 (non is) because i cant afford the 2.8 like you have is f4 still ok?

  • @musicmentalwebsite - Honestly, no, f4 just won't cut it in some low-light situations. If you can't afford the Canon f2.8 IS lens, think about getting the non-IS version or something like the Sigma EX 70-200/f2.8. I've used the Sigma in the past and it's a very capable lens. Price is pretty good, too, especially if you find a good used copy. Good luck.

  • @sds4kst8 cheers scott im also looking at a shorter lens but i cant decide beetween the 17-40 or a 24-70 what do u think?

  • @musicmentalwebsite - I prefer fast glass. :)

  • Hi. I am stuck between the canon 70-200 non IS and the IS. As you own the the non IS lens do you ever wished you had the IS? I'm mainly using it for sports / wildlife and maybe the odd portrait. Hope you can advise and thanks.

  • @russellfeatherstone I have never felt like I was missing anything by not having IS on my 70-200/f2.8 lens, and I never use it with my 400/f2.8, not even when panning. And, when I shoot portraits I'm using some kind of artificial light (strobe) so I don't feel like I need IS in those situations, either. I suggest, if you can afford it, there's nothing wrong with having IS. But if money is tight, don't hesitate to buy the non-IS version.

  • @sds4kst8 I use the 70-200L 2.8 no IS, and I love it. Really the only benefit of IS is if you need your shutter speed under 1/250, IMO.

  • @TTphotography I personally don't like the slight drop in image quality when using the teleconverter.

why do you rarely use the extender? I'm thinking to buy it for my 70-200 f4 for soccer. (for sunny weather)
