Are there a lot of benefits to spaying this way? Would I be better off to spay via flank than midline when I'm fully licensed? I didn't even think to do it this way until they mentioned it in school. But the professors didn't have time to go into the benefits of it and I'm curious if tissue damage and infection is lower with this method and if rate of healing may be faster/less pain in the animal?
Loving the "pull, twist and hope" method of haemostasis on the ovarian arteries. You need to have some nerve or a *really* young cat to try that. I'm impressed.

@TheDessertDan haven't ya heard of shelter medicine???? tsk tsk tsk.... vets do work at some extreme conditions..... provided that the surgical site remains sterile, a spay can be done anywhere......
The flank spay V/s the traditional way with hook...I practice the two thecnics. For me the best is the traditional thecnic.

This is a figure 8 pedicle self tie. Very safe and effective. Done at many many shelters and spay/neuter facilities in the US.

@CurvageMonster So, you're not meant to hit POST again if you're feeling impatient? I'll remember that.
