The Atheist Experience #743 excerpt
Hosted by Russell Glasser and Jeff Dee

The caller is actually in a closet during this call. She lives in a town dominated by Christianity, and is afraid to let people know she is an Atheist because it might hurt her business. Russell and Jeff let her know each situation is unique, but she's not required to do anything as an Atheist. You don't have to carry the banner.

This upload is in support of the Atheist Community of Austin and its secular goals.

One of the main reasons I come to YouTube is I spend all day where I live drowning in christian ignorance. I also love coming here and showing theists just how fucking superstitious and irrational their beliefs are. Blasting the Holy FUCK out of them sounds fun too. Its great to have a place where fellow Atheists can express their views and enjoy some conversation.

  • I agree. It’s very difficult to be rational. It’s very difficult to be atheist anywhere in the US. I live in Texas, and although Texas has the highest increase in atheist numbers over the last 10 years, I’m still surrounded by millions of Christians – especially maniacal delusional born-agains and Baptists. So, when I come to YouTube I really enjoy blasting the Holy FUCK out of Christians!

Yeah its like committing social suicide or at least facing constant drama at work. I don't need that everyday. Hell going there everyday is hard enough without having to be the poster boy for rational thought. That's why I love coming here.

  • Yes I can also understand this caller. I face a similar situation where I work. Although we have anti discrimination rules, it would still have a negative impact if I came out. I want to so bad, but I will not jeopardize my family's financial security over this issue. It's a damn shame in this Country that we rational thinkers face this kind of issue. That is why I am so militant on Youtube. Everything I want to say, I can say here.

  • Oh boy do I understand how this lady feels! I was the only male, nurse practitioner - atheist in a hospital full of Christians, muslims and other religions. A few, select people knew, but I daren't tell anyone else or I would have been completely shut out.
