Mr. Speaker:

Yesterday I addressed the demand of Gov. Schwarzenegger for federal aid by noting the devastating impact that his tax increases have had on Californias economy. Tax increases that were supposed to bring in $13 billion of additional revenue have instead crushed Californias brittle economy and cost $10 billion in lost revenues in just nine months.

Californias revenue problem isnt the only thing that was made in Sacramento. Her spending problem is also self-inflected.

When Schwarzenegger took office, California was spending $78 billion a year. Instead of hitting the brake, he hit the accelerator and in just four and a half years increased spending by a stunning 40 percent. When state revenues peaked in July of 2008 at $97 billion, California was already running a $9 billion deficit.

Mr. Speaker, Budget deficits that are made in California need to stay in California. And that goes for the other 49 states as well.

  • I voted for Tommy, not the commie. The commie won and I voted with my feet...hasta la vista California.

  • Hey I have an idea, lets look at who the donor states are (the states that contribute to the federal budget). California is easily and by far the biggest donor state. CA is paying for a very large percentage of the federal budge. It is severly underfunded, and needs more revenue badly. The true root of the problem is that CA's tax revenuw is spent on the federal budget more than any state, fix that, and they won't increase taxes, or it's bankrupcy for the 6th largest economy in the world.

  • We that are trying rid California of excessively stupid and/or corrupt politicians here in the fools gold state have a huge mountain to climb. I for one voted for McClintock when he ran against Stupidneggar. I told countless people of how he is a RINO. I was able to convince a few to no avail. Arnie stole McClintocks campaign points and the dummies fell for it. What a mess we have to clean up. Tom McClintock is right now and was many years ago.

  • Deal with it California, You were the superficial fools who voted for him.. I mean come on.. ARNOLD? REALLY? What did you think would happen... that just goes to show that California places more value on appearances and popularity rather than using their heads and voting for someone who actually might know what they are doing! I think the peroxide has gone to your heads! But hey, good luck with that!
