CODEPINK activists demonstrated inside the staged Israeli beach event in Central Park, NYC, on Sunday, June 21. For more info visit www.stolenbeauty.org
You have got to be kidding me, the CodePinkers are protesting against Israeli occupation of Palestinian land, the country Israel itself is 78% of original Palestine and they maintain a military occupation of the rest of 22% as well.
In the occupied land they continue to bulldoze the natives' homes and build Jewish-only settlements for Jews from around the world, and Ahava has factories in those Jewish settlements; that is the Israeli "culture" that they are protesting against.
it seems u dont get the point i'm making. people dont have to protest every disaster or injust in this world but if ppl continuously single out israel for criticism while completely ignoring everything else then clearly they are just acting hypocritical.
and exactly what do you think increasing awareness of the fighting in Gaza is likely to do? you think the government will change their policies after a few bitches dressed in pink with paint on their body shout around? if ppl only protest if they think it will do sthg then why are they protesting palestine as clearly after years it prove not too effective.
I guess I'm trying to understand what you think increasing awareness of the fighting in Sri Lanka was likely to do. Many protesters are looking for direct results and it's easy to imagine why hugely publicized events like the fighting in Palestine caused big reactions.
I'm just wondering why you seem to be saying people are required to demonstrate about every disaster if they demonstrate about one?
btw, the name of the fallacy you made is called reductio ad ridiculum or appeal to ridicule by presenting the opponent's argument in a way that appears ridiculous.
clearly, you want to dismiss my argument by trying to link what i said to an absurd conclusion. a fallacy as you made no explanations as to why protesting sri lanka automatically means wanting a military intervention. i can use the same tactic and say 'do the code pinks want a US invasion of israel? ha.ha.ha. Politically the idea seems very naive.'. but of course i wont make such weak arguments cos i'm not a troll like u.
ah, another troll comment. No, pal, people protest the things they think are important, not just cos they are 100% sure it will make a difference. most ppl protest to express their opinion in public and show their support to it. So protesting against sri lanka will not sway public opinion? why not? ppl can protest to raise awareness. no i'm not suggesting voicing your concern about a humanitarian crisis automatically means advocating a military intervention.
Activists protest things where they might have some impact. In this case because of US government support for Israel protesting in the US makes sense.. because it has the potential to sway public opinion.
I'm curious. Are you actually suggesting that US military intervention would have been a good idea in Sri Lanka? Politically the idea seems very naive.
I'm not kidding though, I want an answer from the code pinkers. Why can't Israelis and Jews with Israeli relatives get together to celebrate Israeli culture? Why are you so incredibly aggressive and malicious towards Israelis?

Pretty simple answer cyklonb1989,
Activists protest things where they might have some impact. In this case because of US government support for Israel protesting in the US makes sense.. because it has the potential to sway public opinion.
I'm curious. Are you actually suggesting that US military intervention would have been a good idea in Sri Lanka? Politically the idea seems very naive.
