Here are 2 classic "dream theme" songs from the
legendary Johnny Burnette and Bobby Darin.
There are 2 ways you can cover a great tune.
(1) try and do it just like the original recording.
(2) or put your own signature on it, based on "your" style or what you have to work with in a group; vocals, instrumentation etc.
MORSE & MYERS were about the latter.
Bobby sang lead on both, played guitars, drums and bass.
Ed did piano and strings.
Both sang backup harmonies here.
Recorded in Newport Beach, California in 1988.

Bob Morse & Ed Myers met in 1979, in Huntington Beach, California and became friends instantly; with a mutual respect for each other's insight and musical abilities.
MORSE honed his craft early on, in the Weymouth / Quincy areas, outside of Boston Mass.
MYERS grew up outside of Los Angeles, in the
South Gate / Lynwood region of southern California.
He was into piano by age 6.
Both possessed a vast knowledge of great music from ALL modern genres, plus in L.A.; they were in demand and worked a lot as versatile stage and session players. Their frequent schedules on these numerous gigs, eventually led them to perform on the same music projects.
They were songwriters, arrangers, studio partners, and musical soul mates.. As much as they were alike, they possessed individual styles and stage personas,.
They were a product of their own standards and knew the meaning of artistic integrity. They were nobody's yes men;
but could literally perform, (on any given gig or show)
"on the spot" requests, from an imagineary, yet seemingly endless list of songs, retained in their memory banks, from all of those hundreds of gigs and performances over the years. Often they would "pull off" obscure and forgotten LP cuts, spanning 30 to 40 years of pop music history; (1950's, 60's, 70's & 80's) performing the songs as if they had rehearsed them and played them regularly.
You could rarely stump these guys. If it was a radio played bonified hit record, then most likely M&M KNEW IT and the many audiences over the years loved that about them. It was an interesting and colorful collaboration of
East Coast meets West Coast.
IT WAS, "Dion & The Belmonts, Otis Redding and Stax Records meets Beach Boys, Byrds, Association and
Phil Spector" " type" of scenario.
Their friendship was on a level of ol' school values and a true appreciation for their respective families; whom had believed in them early on and had brought them up the right way. It was evident on stage; they truly loved what they did in music, and felt blessed for the opportunities that came their way, Their satisfied audiences just went along for the ride.
