Deep inside the heart of Los Angeles, thousands of Armenian-Americans populate the area known as "Little Armenia" in East Hollywood, CA. In this video, I interviewed two elderly American-Armenians who relocated to the United States from the Former Soviet Republic of Armenia (ArmeniaSSR) during the final years of the crumbling empire. Both interviewees are children of genocide survivors who escaped to Greece and Syria after enforced deportations. After the Second World War, hundreds of thousands of Armenians from across the globe migrated to the Soviet Republic of Armenia, once again reuniting with their ancestral homeland. This short documentary looks at the difficulties associated with a new mass migration of Armenian-Americans moving back to Armenia. "Little Armenia" in East Hollywood contains a huge demographic of Armenians and is also one of the oldest communities Armenians settled in during the era of Perestroika and the crumble of the USSR in 1991.
