Refocusing on Real Cost of War - EYES WIDE OPEN

This was an exhibit by the American Friends Service Committee which makes the viewer refocus their thoughts onto the real cost of war. Key phrase in the video, "If these people were actually standing here shoulder to shoulder--that's a lot of people." Notice the photo's from James David Parker when Steve is talking about the effects of war on entire families.
PRODUCTION NOTES: I was losing light fast but I did not want to miss out. I shot the b roll first and was approached by Steve who nicely asked if I had any questions--and we just rolled with it--his comments were very sincere. I had some camera play with the focus and de-focusing which I thought played properly and thematically in the final cut. RA

This display was on campus & Hyde Park consecutive days means that volunteers worked hard to set it up & move it.

All the veterans groups cooperated, the university and the city itself made space available.

Of course the local Friends Meeting (Quakers) were instrumental in organizing these events.

The communityy outpouring of appreciation and understanding was palpable.

Local groups used the opportunity to promote related activities motivating events that would not otherwise possible.
