In Early December at Belmont University, the women's soccer coach, Lisa Howe was forced to resign for being gay after "revealing her sexuality" and her same-sex partner's pregnancy to her students. In lieu of the recent LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) suicides and the "It Gets Better" campaign, some Belmont students wanted to get the word out about this injustice and offer a student perspective that has not been represented. We hope to influence change for equal rights at our school, our community and our society.

  • I really wish there would have been someone to tell Jesus "Don't judge," and to "Have an open mind." How close-minded Jesus was, teaching us how to live holy lives. I really wish there had been a Belmond student in the crowd so they could have set the Savior straight.

  • @whippingboy89 Thank you for your response :) And perhaps you know more about the specific situation than I do, but basically what I am saying is a private institution has the right to hire and fire people based on its values. Do you see what I mean?

  • Great video guys, keep up the good work

  • The administration was not standing for Coach Howe out of love, it was out of fear and a lack of being on the same page as an organization. Maybe you should look at how Belmont's senate is moving to protect all it's gay faculty from discrimination. This was a bad knee jerk reaction by a few people in the administration, but is being corrected.

  • (I do, however, think this is a well-made video, and I respect those involved for having the courage to stand up for something they believe in!)

  • ...change the Bible and change over 2000 years of Christian tradition. I am not trying to say here that Coach Howe is a terrible person. From her smile, it looks like she has a gorgeous spirit. :) But if she disagrees with the values of this institution, nobody is saying she needs to work there, and nobody is forcing disappointed students to attend.

  • To everyone in this video: I love you all and you're all beautiful! But regardless of whether you agree with the decision or not, doesn't it make sense for Belmont U to have the right to choose its employees based on its values? It's a private Christian school, and yes Christianity is ALL about love, but many Christians believe that living the so-called "gay lifestyle" is not good for people, so they stand against it out of love. Asking the administration to change this is asking them to

  • Good Christians need to speak up for love and acceptance to drown out the voices of those who are fearful and who say ugly things.

  • Bravo!

  • i love it!
