  • Back to lesson one of photography, low light = incease sensitivity. Just one point for you for saying ASA.

phototecglobal: I was about to kick your ass you know, good thing you explained yourself. I'm only young, but I was born and raised with the term, also most peolpe here say ASA.

Yes it is, good explanation Rubenzovoorts, just that DIN has a different scale, that´s why ISO and ASA are analog, because the share the same scale. DIN 21 = ASA/ISO 100, 24=200, 27=400 and so on.

  • not much

  • yes it is, ASA stands for American standards Association and ISO came later and it stands for International Organization for Standardization, so iso is the international term for ASA, and back in the day there was also a German standard called DIN which stands for Deutsches Institut für Normung, which meant quite the same thing as ISO but then it was for german standards

  • it was also called ASA in mexico many years ago, but is it really the same as ISO ?

  • the name, ASA is what its used to be called in the US

  • They are actually interchangeble terms and basicly means the same: the speed (light sensitivity) of your film.

  • whats the difference betwen ASA and ISO ???

  • And when I say their shit, just in case you don't understand that either, I mean they know what their talking about!

  • ISO is new terminology in the business, ASA is old school terminology, so if you hear someone say ASA, then u know, they know, their shit!

  • Tnx. That was good stuff. Take a look at my pics ( used a Sigma 50mm f1.4 at 100 ISO. Let me know what u think. Tnx a lot.
