Think outside the box a bit. The hardest part is actually getting on site. I know people on the site where I work who applied for kitchehand and domestic jobs with Sodexo (catering, admin, etc) and used the connections they made to go into other types of work. Even the cleaning and dishpig jobs pay pretty good.
Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to kiss arse. Nobody likes a kiss-arse. Just keep your head down, don't talk shit or gossip, and stay in control when you get on the piss.

Hi im about to start a certificate III course in mining exploration at east perth tafe, is this a good start to a career in mining? could it end up leading to a jumbo operator job? That's the area i want to get into... and will i still need a HR license even if i complete the course?

Hi, Just a quick question. My mother is working in the UK as a police officer, but she wants a career change as a dump truck driver in Australia. How would she get into the job? Does she need a special license? like a MC or something?

@maialazzo91 If you have relevant mining experience you should have a good chance of obtaining a skilled migrants visa. Check out the government site at = immi(dot)gov(dot)au for more info.

Im really thinking of trying the mines Ive heard the pay is good....what kind of wage are thy paying in Oz these days (above ground and below)??

Hi MisterX, it depends if you have a trade or skills that are in high demand in the industry. Like a boilermaker, HD fitter etc.
What type of working are you interested in?
