The plank primarily targets the "core." The one demonstrated in this video is a standard plank, with exception of one individual. The standard plank requires you to hold your body up with your elbow, hands shoulder distance apart, while holding your toes in a tippy-toe position. Keep the body completely straight, like a board. Minimum of 1 minute holds for these to be effective. The more advanced plank requires that you raise one leg up, while holding the other down, for at least 30 seconds, then switching to the other leg for the remaining 30 seconds.
