Lake Wildwood in Macon, GA, was drained in 1995. Having grown up on the lake, I was interested in seeing what was on the bottom. I filmed the process, and only recently decided to edit and share the footage.

I have also have some photos of this event online at http://www.tpldesign.com/lww/.

  • @ARNRF67 Yes, the lake was drained to facilitate new sewer pipes, which were to run underground beneath the lake bed. I can only speculate on the reason they decided to go under the lake...possibly it was a more direct path to the destination. I'm not sure though.

  • I've lived in Macon my whole life (43 years) and never knew that Lake Wildwood was ever drained. Do you know why they did it?
