  • Isn't it amazing that a song from the 1st century BC (Jiarenqu , which Mei sings in the film) inspired a piece from the soundtrack (the instrumental "Lovers", with its interesting string writing which resembles Eastern music), which in turn inspired this operatic aria? Talk about postmodernism and intertextuality!
