Lyrics:

How can I laugh or cry
When my mind is sorely torn?
Badabec had to die
Fair Pantagruel is born
Shall I weep, yes, for why?
Then laugh and show my scorn

Born with a strength untold
Foreseen to have great age
Set in Gargantuan mould,
Joyful laugh, yet quick to rage
Princely wisdom, habits bold;
Power, glory, lauded sage

Pantagruel born -- the earth was dry and burning
In Paradise dear Badabec prays for him
Pantagruel born -- the earth was dry and burning
In Paradise dear Badabec prays for him.

Pantagruel born -- the earth was dry and burning
In Paradise dear Badabec prays for him

How can I laugh or cry
When my mind is sorely torn?
Badabec had to die;
Fair Pantagruel is born
Shall I weep, yes, for why?
Then laugh and show my scorn.

  • @jcmorellana Free Hand isn't one of my faves but it a GREAT album and I can see why it sold so well.

  • Wonderful, no dislikes, that makes me happy. I'm 55 now but still listen avidly to my vinyl collection and Gentle Giant are one of my favourite groups and still have all their records. Hope you all enjoy their music.

  • @ChronoKnuckles3 That sounds good! By now, my favourite albums are "Octopus" (UK, 1972) and "Freehand" (UK, 1975)

  • @jcmorellana Gentle Giant is my favorite rock band of all time.

    Why? Because they did there own thing. They did not devolve into hypnotic commercialism. They weren't focused on money, they were focused on only making good music.

    Gentle Giant is progressive rock incarnate. They were also the most experimental rock band of the 1970's.

    True musical geniuses.

  • always my fave giant song.

  • @TheOsk1e it's exactly what you thought it was... subtlety is the key.

  • @biotonk

    thanks, my mind was somewhere else..lol

  • Top band from the early development of progressive rock music. I do think this gem had tried to exposed some intrincate sounds rather any contemporary band. So...what do you think?

  • @trekkian88 No way! I thought I was alone in this world!
