Yea we have just too many different kinds of butterflies in costa rica, although i haven't seen this one, they are not rare to see flying around in just about every town, and I guess Palo Verde ('Green tree' or, literally, 'Green stick') would be the perfect spot to see all kinds of bugs like that one, although I have not been there. I don't know if it is rare, but I don't think so. :)
