Miss S. is a 11 year old girl who presented with an increasing deformity of her lower back. She had been earlier diagnosed with MPS (mucopolysaccharoidosis). Due to the spinal deformity, she was having severe back ache and difficulty in walking. Patient underwent a risky and complex surgical procedure which involved complete removal of 2 abnormaly shaped spinal bones (D12 and L1), straightening of the spine and fusion in the corrected position. She had an uneventful post operative period. Following surgery her abnormal spinal curve has been totally corected . She is totally relived of her back ache and her gait has improved .

  • Hey thanks for this! My twin babies have mps 4, one of them with a twisted spine as well. Good to see what will happen to them when they have their fusion at 4 yrs. Better than the surgeons pics thats for sure!
